Water coloring a stamped image

Today's class focused using watercolors with a previously stamped image.  After experimenting a bit, I found that rather than using black ink for the stamped image, I did a lot better if I used a color that was more in the family of color I was intending to use for the watercoloring.  Not so muddy!  In this case I stamped this Flourishes rose first with a shade of terracotta.  Stamped the Butterfly with blue ink first.  When I finished, I didn't like my results--  but once it dried I liked it!
Haha!

  1. Like this one. It takes some courage to swipe the long strokes thru your work, but the result is lovely.

  2. Very pretty. I like the way you used broad strokes for the background.

  4. You've created a beatiful background with the large strokes, and I think I need to try stamping the image in something other than black, as you suggested - it looks fantastic!

  5. The fun part about watercolor is you never know what it looks like until it's dried! Beautiful watercoloring!

  6. isn't it true how you look at it and you don't like it so you walk away and come back after it is dry and you say - hey not so bad - love the card
