Make It Monday #200 - Layered Die Cuts

Today's MIM challenge was to use a coverplate diecut to create a shadow effect.  What intrigued me was the idea of using mutiple cuts in different colors from the same die.  I wanted to use the Art Deco die as the coverplate, but it didn't lent itself too much to a true shadow effect since it is so architechural.  Nevertheless, it does look great with the alternating cardstock colors.  I continued this layering effect with the leaves and the darling bird from the Songbird die set.

It's dreary here in St. Louis!  I wish we would get some snow-- it keeps going just to the north of us.  This little card is cheerful and sunny.  Spring is on its way.

Cardstock:  PTI Hawaiian Shores,  Spring Leaf, Limeade Ice, Lemon Tart, Hibiscus Pink
Sentiment:  PTI Birds & Blooms
Dies:  Song PTI Bird and Art Deco

  1. I'm from St. Louis, too! Belleville, to be specific. I have been transplanted over near The Illinois/Indiana border, but it's neat to (figuratively) meet someone from my neck of the woods who likes PTI! I absolutely love your use of the Art Deco plate. Such cheery colors.... Definitely brightens up this dreary winter. :)

  2. Make that a third - I used to live in St. Peters/O'Fallon area of St. Louis until a job change forced me out - now I'm in Upstate NY - YUCK. I sure miss St. Louis. We are buried in snow here today - 10 plus inches so I was happy to see you cheery card and cam to say to from the PTI site.

  3. I thought of the deco cover plate too...but I did my best to layer two of the layers, I thought about doing what you did in fact those are the two colors I played with first, then decided to try the aqua and Hawaiian shores and layering, that is what I went with! I like your card a lot and that bird is really special!

  6. Love your yellow and turquoise border. Those songbird dies are one of my favorites and you've used them wonderfully here.

  7. Super sweet and springy card! Feel free to come to Maine and take all the snow you want! I'd ship it but can't get out of the driveway. Ha!

    1. Haha - I used to live just outside Boston and I still remember that often there was still snow on the ground on Payl Revere Day (APRIL 19). Love New England and love that spring arrives in St Louis much earlier!
